I received a message from Alexandre van der Dussen, the pruning contractor in the Haarlem area. His father, Antonius Frans Johannes van der Dussen, had researched his ancestors, and established his genealogy since the 17th century. You will find this genealogy below.
What stands out in this genealogy is that his ancestors were very stable geographically, they all lived near the holland IJssel. (Tricky, there is also another river Ijssel in the province Gueldre. The holland IJssel passes near Gouda and Capelle a.d. IJssel, in the provinces of Holland and Utrecht).
However, this genealogy (surprisingly precise) shows no relation with our van der Dussen family. Many of “Our” van der Dussen live(d) in Delft, not far away – 30 km from the Ijssel-. Others lived in Amsterdam, The Hague, and also in Gouda, where Bruno was born in 1660.
We know the professions of some members of this genealogy. They were carpenters, tailors, bank clerks, etc. The profession of tailor was probably an inspiration for the creation of their blazon, including a pair of scissors!

If you visit our website, and have some expertise in genealogy, another topic of research is possible: who is Teunis Sars? Where does the name van der Dussen come from? (Note the variants van der Dus or van der Duijs or simply Dussen). There are inconsistencies (Barent Teunisz. married Jannigje Potuijt, nine years old! Fortunately they waited a few years before having children). The detailed genealogy of AFJ van der Dussen is available (in Dutch) here.
