To all the van der Dussen’s and allied families: may the new year strengthen the bonds between us.
For more than a year, the renewed van-der-dussen.com site has taken over the function of the old, obsolete vanderdussen-story.com site. It turns out to be more stable and more readable and has earned us several international contacts. Two of these contacts were taken further.
– A van der Dussen family, apparently unrelated, has lived since the 17th century on the holland IJssel, not far from Gouda.
– And distant descendants of Libert through his daughter Anna, introduced us to their van der Dussen ancestry. An article is dedicated to them, see under “other VDD”.
We also discovered a Mr VDD entangled in impressive legal disputes with the court of Holland, see the article “An unknown van der Dussen « subsitute-schout » in The Hague” under “other VDD” as well.
We decided to add an article about the seigneurie of Kestergat (see image) with some photos thanks to Mr Janssens de Bisthoven who kindly authorized us to publish them.
Finally, Etienne VDD carried out a beautiful study on the Castel of Ottignies. Both articles, on Ottignies and on Kestergat, can be discovered under the “Places” tab.
And in the near future we will welcome the reissue of JK’s book “L’Histoire et les hommes” updated, supplemented and improved. We will notify you when it is available, and offer it for sale at a very reasonable price. JK’s other works on the family will also follow, as well as a genealogical work on the weak link between branch N (the Belgian VDDs) and branch A (the lords of Dussen).
This editorial can be distributed to all the contacts you deem useful, we still hope to discover other VDD’s around the world. Hopefully…
